I think I can speak for a majority of people when I say nothing is truly better than vacationing and traveling. Whether you are going to the lake for a weekend or sandy beaches in the tropics, one other thing is certain... PACKING IS THE WORST. In fact, I often push this off until the very last minute that I can and procrastinating only makes the anxiety of packing even worse.
1) It is a struggle to make sure you are catching the right ~aesthetic~
2) You need to make sure you are not under/over dressed
3) I almost ALWAYS can barely fit all my clothes in my bag or suitcase
4) I haven't even begun packing and I already know I forgot something...
So in effort to help you with the headache of packing.. I've put together a little cheat sheet.
PLAN AHEAD-
1) Make a list- this saves me so much time if I plan by day what I intend on wearing (you don't necessarily have to stick to it) but at least you know you will be covered for each day
2) Take pictures- Okay so this might be a little much for some of you to take pictures on what you plan on wearing each day but this is super helpful for when you arrive in your destination and you forgot what looks you wanted to coordinate for each night.
3) Don't wear clothes you plan on taking on your trip a week up to when you leave- This avoids you having to do last minute wash and therefore eliminates another step in the dreaded packing process

SHOES-
Shoes are the hardest because they tend to take up the most space. Also I want to bring a pair for EVERY occasion but that is just not possible. SO what to do...
1) Put your shoes in some type of bag.
You can use plastic shower caps, ziploc bags, or my personal favorite is to use the cloth bags that my purses come in as they are the perfect size! Doing this makes sure that your clothes don't get mixed in with the bottom of your favorite sneakers that also trenched through the same floor that the homeless man on the corner peed on.. so you are welcome!
2) Wear the shoe that takes up the most space as your travel shoe.
This helps ease up some room in your suitcase! Usually this means wearing a sneaker in the summer and a boot in the winter. Which also works because normally planes are freezing so you don't want to be exposing your feet anyway.
3) Bring neutral colors only
I say this as I just packed a pair of hot pink shoes in my suitcase... BUT if you don't have room to bring multiple pairs, bringing neutral colored shoes as this will guarantee that you will have a pair to go with every outfit you bring.
CLOTHES-
1) Travel clothes double as work out clothes
One way to pack efficiently is to try to re-purpose some of your outfits. One of the easiest ways to do this is to double your travel clothes with workout clothes. If you are a normal person and like to dress comfy when traveling, wear one of your cute workout outfits! Just make sure to bring a jacket always since it is always freezing on planes, trains, etc.
2) Day to night outfits
Having cute dresses/rompers that you can wear in the daytime when exploring and also at night are also a perfect way to make the most of your outfits! I hate wearing the same outfit twice on vacation so totally get if this isn't your style, but if that is it I just recommend wearing it for one full day so you don't have to repeat it!
JEWELRY-
1)Stick to the basics
Similar to shoes, I would stay with the most basic to eliminate bringing an unnecessary amount
2)Leave the necklaces behind
The amount of times I've insisted on bringing my favorite dainty gold chained necklaces on vacation and then spend hours trying to untangle them is more than I would like to admit. So my advice in order to avoid an anxiety attack or two is to just leave them behind...
BEAUTY-
1)Samples Samples Samples!
I swear the amount of beauty samples I have is ridiculous and I have no idea where they come from to be quite honest BUT they are perfect for traveling. Full size products unnecessarily take up so much room so even if you can't bring your favorite product, opt for the smarter choice! After all, it is only a week or so without it.
