Summer is just around the corner...oh wait.. it's already here....
So if you're anything like half of the world's population you aren't as in summer bod mode as you had hoped for. Lucky for us the city has SO many different workout options it is almost overwhelming!
While there is truly something for everyone, I've broken out my favorite classes by category below. Depending on your mood or the workout you're looking for, I promise the below won't disappoint.
Boxing-Rumble
In a dark room, with the best music, and a hot trainer. What more can you ask for?! Oh and it's also an amazing full body workout. Boxing classes in my opinion are worth the money because you're guaranteed to break a sweat and also have fun! You'll leave here ready to kick ass and take names.
Yoga- Y7
Y7 is the perfect yoga class because it's not too "kumbaya" as a lot of them can be. So if you don't want to have a therapy session but need a good sweat this hot yoga class if for you! You'll leave feeling 10 lbs lighter and it is a great detox after a weekend of raging (hello summer). Hip hop Wednesday is my favorite but most classes play good music regardless!
Spin- Flywheel
This stadium style cycling class is my favorite spin class because of the competitiveness. There is a leader board in the room that shows the top 10 in the class as well as a tracker on your bike that calculates how hard you are working. Although this can make you very anxious if you're obnoxiously competitive like me, it is impossible not to leave exhausted and dripping in sweat!
Dance- 305 Fitness
Although it is a "dance" class, don't be fooled. This twerk fest is a seriously hard workout but so fun while doing it. The instructors are hilarious and you'll be inspired to be them after your first class. Plus: there is a DJ in the class with you so you won't miss a beat!
Other Notable mentions..
Circuit Training- Fhitting Room
Be ready to work! Fhitting room is regarded as NYC's Best high intensity interval training for a reason. The trainers don't care if you've had a rough work day, they are ready to work you do the bone. I felt stronger after just one class so I can imagine if you consistently do this you'll be in tip-top shape in no time!
Barre- Pure Barre
I am lacking in the variety of barre classes I have tried but Pure is my favorite so far! The instructors know what they're doing and they have a lot regulars in the class so if you need to follow someone it is easy to catch on. You might not feel like you are working super hard during but the next day you'll definitely feel it.
Pilates- SLT
Not the most fun while you're doing because that shit is HARD. It can be intimidating your first class if you do not know how to use the machine but once you catch on you're guaranteed to tone muscles you didn't even know you had! And it will leave you sore for 5 days...if that's your kinda thing...
