Grammy Looks

With the terrible news regarding Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi coming early Sunday, there was no doubt that there was a dark cloud over the red carpet on Sunday night.  An eerie coincidence that the Grammys took place in Los Angeles and at the Staples Center, the place where Kobe built the dynasty of what the Los Angeles Lakers are today.  Celebrities paid their respects, performed powerful musical tributes, and tried to celebrate as best as they could to honor the legacy Kobe and his daughter leave behind.

A special acknowledgement to all of the performers, announcers, and presenters for building up the emotional strength to do their jobs despite the difficulties of handling such a tragedy.

Despite such a sad day in news, stars lining the red carpet were still able to inspire and bring smiles to people's faces watching at home.  After all, it is in times of difficulties it is important more than ever to appreciate the arts, fashion, and small things that bring humans joy and expressiveness.

The Grammys tend to be my favorite awards show fashion because it is the most expressive of all of the awards shows (besides the Met Gala) and lucky for us, everyone brought their A-Game!

Quick Review-

These ladies all brought a little something different to the table while looking glamorous AF which is what the red carpet is all about!!  I do not mind a more simple look as long as you do it right (Dua Lipa).  Also gotta love a good pant suit (Bebe Rexa) especially when you glitz it up with some rhinestone and skin.  Not everyone can pull that look off without looking trashy...but that it is definitely part of her sexual aesthetic/vibe.  The over-exaggerated shoulder is my fave look and you cannot go wrong with a long slit (perfect way to be sexy while still being elegant)- Chrissy Teigan/Alessandra Ambrosio.  Lizzo was a 10/10 in the gorgeous Versace gown that was my favorite dress overall....and last but not least was my favorite overall look, Ariana who was nothing short of perfection in her overly dramatic gown!!

Quick Review-

Even the guys brought their Sunday best and wowed the crowd!  These guys all stepped out of the box and brought a lot of dramatics in a fun way.  Although there is nothing wrong with a classic power suit (love).  There were too many funky jackets and colors that all on my list happened to be something with more of a flair.  After all, it is the GRAMMYS.  Lucky Dave, Lil Nas X, and Shawn Mendes all suited up in loud colors that made heads turn everywhere.  While Trevor Noah, Fineas O'Connell, and Brad Goreski took a bold statement blazer approach.  Lucky Dave's was my favorite suit because it was unlike a suit I've ever seen before.. and something only a person with major swag could pull off.  The funky blazer look is great because it gives a statement without being too extra (unless paired with leather pants like Brad Goreski).  Still love the extraness though and I think I might have worn the same outfit to work today, minus the tie...

I won't go through my least favorites because I'm not a hater but for honorable mention see my list below :p

.....Tove Lo (WTF), Lewis Capaldi (act like you've been here before bro), Tracey Young (just no girl)

KEY TRENDS
The Bigger the Better
Ariana, Demi Lovato, Camilla Cabello and Lizzo all daunted over the top large gowns and i loved them all..  Not everyone can pull off that loud of a style but when you happen to have the voices that these four have you pretty much can do anything you want...

One- Shoulder
Dramatic yet classy..so I'm here for it.  Erin Lim, Saweetie, Lily Singh, Giuliana Rancic, Janina Gavankar, and Blac Chyna all sported the off the shoulder look.  I'm a lover for anything asymmetrical because I think it gives a little bit of flare without being overstated.  These gowns also all happened to be gorgeous regardless of the style so kudos to these ladies!

White out
Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Erin Lim, and Swae Lee were just a few to name that were part of the all white trend.  Love it because it is not a common red carpet color but always looks classy when done right.

Nail Art
Guess this is the part where I realize I'm older than I thought because I must have missed the nail art memo.  The overly long, barely can type nails were out in full force on the red carpet.  Not my favorite trend but if cool girls like Billie Eilish, Rosalia, and Lizzo are sporting them then they are just the beginning of us seeing this trend explode.
