Coming out of retirement to talk about velvet, fur, sequins, and silk. If you are about the glitz and glam how do you NOT love holiday fashion aesthetic. While I have been doing some of my own personal writing, I felt a global pandemic may not be the time or place to be blogging about fashion and not to mention no one is going anywhere or dressing up anyway :)
While 2020 may not have been YOUR year or a lot of people's year, there is still much to be celebrated and even the small things in life. Fashion isn't going anywhere so this one thing we can rely on and celebrate. Happy & Holidays and an even happier New Year!
So especially when we are living in a year full of sweatpants and PJ's (don't hate it but slightly over it...) I am more excited than ever before to dress up this year!
Now while many people still won't be getting dolled up for the holidays there is something to be said that dressing good helps you feel good. An outfit I like wearing and expressing myself in can instantly lift my mood so count me in for that these last few days of 2020.
Knowing that you don't want to be overdressed to your family get together and risk looking like the dramatic one of the fam..even if you might be ;) there are ways you can still dress up and feel dolled up without going over the top.
I will try to give a variety of looks so that you can find something that fits your holiday plan!
SILK BLOUSE- If you've been working a corporate job this year then you are very familiar with this zoom uniform approach. Let's be real, the 2020 dress code was all about looking cute from the waist up so this is a take on the cute/dressy top with sweatpants on the bottom. Now I suggest swapping the sweatpants out for a stretch, dark pair of jeans or black pants but the key here is you can still be dressed up while not sacrificing your comfort!
FUR COAT- Now we're not saying you have to pull out the floor length fur coat like Rihanna because you might look ridiculous but adding a little fur coat or vest to a look will help you instantly glam up an outfit and the best part is you can take it off upon arrival so that you are not overdressed if that is not the vibe! This allows you to still feel like you're hitting the town even if you are just going to go sit on your parent's couch for 5 hours.......
ALL BLACK- Reasons we love black (there are too many to be named) but
1.Instantly looks put together 2. Makes you look trim (love) 3. See above.
Lately, I'm all about pairing some gold jewelry with all black outfits which gives me Mob Wives or Real Housewives of New Jersey vibes which we love to imitate maybe just once a year. Rosie Huntington featured below who is a fashion goddess gives us some good all black outfit inspo that can easily be followed.
POP OF COLOR- Whether it be your lips, a shoe, or a colorful bag, by adding one statement piece to your look with a bold color you can instantly feel like your best self. This is the easiest way to dazzle up your outfit without having to overdo it.
SEQUINS & SPARKLES- Need I say more?! The more extra of the holiday favorites (particularly for New Years). Anything with sequins and sparkles is guaranteed to steal the show. If you are not trying to be a showstopper or the look is too feminine for your liking you can go with a "toned down" version of elegance and opt for anything velvet or corduroy! This is a perfect way to still play on cool textures while being a little bit more subtle. Below are some of my fave ways to do it.

Cheers Glams!
like the idea of cheering oneself up with one's outfit fashion despite the more limited social sightings necessitated in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
ReplyDeleteI especially love the blouse in the last photo of the 'Pop of Color' category and the outfits in the last two outfit photos in the 'Sequins + Sparkles' category.
Best wishes for a fashiontastic year 2021 xx :D
