New York is the biggest city in the world so that means that there are ENDLESS activities to do right?! Well... if your friends are anything like mine it isn't a matter of "What should we do?" when the weather gets nice out it's a matter of "What outdoor space can we drink at?!"
Soo not only for YOUR benefit but also selfishly mine, I am coming up with a list of fun summertime activities that DON'T involve drinking... okay maybe some because it's New York so what else are you going to do.....
Walk the Brooklyn Bridge- One of my favorite activities to do because it only lasts about 30 minutes and then you're in Dumbo which has some of the best hot spots to eat and drink ;) But in all seriousness... it is quite breathtaking seeing the views from outside Manhattan (also great for some photo opps) Bonus tip:if you bring someone you actually like you can chat and catch up while getting from point A to B!
Outdoor concerts-
(Summerstage in Central Park, Gov Ball, Brooklyn Mirage, Pier 17, EZOO, ETC, ETC.)
NOTHING is better than listening to your favorite artist while being able to dance and feel the wind breezing through your hair am I right?! One of the best parts of summer are all the outdoor concerts that come to New York. Whether you want to have a live band serenade you for an hour after work or you want to dance until the sun comes up in an empty warehouse in Brooklyn, the options are endless. Most, if the talent is better do require a ticket or price to enter but there are also a lot of free outdoor concerts available if you look hard enough!
Have a picnic in Central Park- By far, THE best place to people watch in all of Manhattan.... Whether you want to see weirdos walking on a tightrope or some hot shirtless guys throwing around a football you will be purely entertained by the eclectic group of individuals that end up in the surrounding area. Sheeps Meadow is the faciest area where the most activity goes on so I highly suggest that's where you post up. What's nice is there are so many walks of life that it is almost guaranteed if you think you are doing something weird you won't be the weirdest one..
WTC/FIDI- After you go all the way up to the one world observatory (best view of the city) and get some sentimental feels during the presentation, walk along the water in the financial district and hit up some of the shops or food places around there! There is Eataly downtown which a great attraction or Pier A Harbor House which is the perfect place to sip on some rosé and eat some seafood. It's crazy how fast downtown is evolving and becoming a must go to area, especially if just visiting!
Coney Island- okay so I've never actually been here... but it's top on my list and I know I need to!! I've heard it's kinda gross but hot dogs and rides?! Doesn't get more tacky fun than that people.. I know they have a beach but I think that is pushing it so I am not suggesting that.
Nearby Beaches- Lube up the sunscreen and hop on the LIRR to some local beaches that are only a few stops away! Long beach, Rockaway, and Brighton are all manageable to get to without a car so why not take a day trip! You may not feel like you're in the hamptons or the cape but if you are like me and don't go in the water, who cares?!
Museum hopping- This is a good idea especially if it's TOO hot. You will get the AC while you are in the museum but also the areas where the MET and Natural Museum of History and so pretty to talk around outside of so you can get the best of both worlds. Hot Tips: The MET has a rooftop bar and the Museum of Natural History has a Shake Shack next to it..
