Met Gala Looks

Just when you thought the theme couldn't get any better from last years... Anna Wintour does it again!

C A M P- Now if you're anything like me you first thought was "?????" I don't get it ....and imagined Kylie Jenner showing up in hiking boots.  However....after doing my "thorough" research I immediately thought what a fabulous theme that fits in perfectly in today's pop culture.  We live in a society of drama, over the top, and yes a lot of unnatural beauty.  Although that sounds like a negative statement I don't think of it as negative at all.  There is something to be celebrated about how our pop culture has gotten here and I think the theme of CAMP embraces this to the fullest!

Any theme that can make a red carpet even more extravagant and glamorous than it already is.. is a win in my book!  In comparison to last year's Catholicism in fashion theme, obviously there was a slightly less serious tone but both have such large cultural and artistic meaning that each person and designer could showcase in completely different ways. Last year, the theme called for a lot of glitz, jewels, and light colors symbolizing heaven while this year was all about the PINK, exaggerated shoulders, bows, flowers, and everything EXTRA.

Now less bore about my feelings on the themes and let's get to some of my fave looks of the night..

The pant suit.  Pant suits are always a bold statement on the carpet but these were done JUST the right way.  CAMP has a strong undertone of blurring gender lines so a pant suit with feminine touches such as the ones above plays perfectly to that theme.  Not only that, but it takes serious confidence and swag to pull them off.  Kudos to these ladies who rocked it and made some bold statements while doing so.

The Pink ladies.  Taking the femininity and drama that pink symbolizes in American pop culture is very expressive and dramatic.  Taking it a step further and having details such as a RHINESTONE THONG OR A FEATHER BOA makes you camp X1000%!  Hailey Beiber looked FLAWLESS from head to toe and Naomi Campbell embodies all things extra that there is no way she could not nail this theme.  Also it is interesting to contrast the dichotomy of these looks how both are drastically different but also both so spot on.

ALL GLITZ AND GLAM-

For looks that weren't all that different but still so spot on.  These beaded, long, fabulous gowns with  the utmost attention to detail are exactly what I would envision everyone to wear for a CAMP theme. Celine being one of the biggest divas to grace the planet ... this look fits her perfectly.  Kendall and Kylie always do it right but this year they really took a risk this year that paid off!

Noteable mentions:  I loooved Gal Gadot and Stella Maxwell's outfits and thought they looked every bit of  fabulous without going tooo outside the box.  Not everyone likes the crazy so these looks were a perfect example of how to straddle the line.

Was SO happy to see the men step up to the plate this year as well, especially not being afraid to go after a more feminine theme.  Harry Styles is really a modern day McJagger and not afraid to push the boundaries.  Rami has had an incredible year with winning an Oscar for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody and looks SO dapper and polished in his head to toe Saint Laurent.

Normally I like to do a few fashion NO's but there really weren't too many especially with a theme as outside the box as CAMP.  The only way to truly go wrong was if you played it too safe.
I didn't put GAGA on the list because I think it was obvious her 3x outfit change was a shoe in for first place.  She embodies this theme to the fullest so I would not expect anything less.

Let me know if I missed any of your fave looks of the night.. Would love to hear your thoughts!!
